Seriously guys what is wrong with all of you? You guys are suggesting solutions that sound good as a proposal but have you guys actually thought about how Arena.net can actually implement these solutions? Noob titles? IQ Tests? Its like you all think Arena.net has a magic wand that they can wave and everything will be all better. Hell with all their efforts on GW2 I don't think they're going to care about GW1 for the next couple of years if ever again.

If you want to PuG then go find a PuG and stop whining about heroes ruining the game! Heroes and Henches are here to stay if you can't handle that then just don't play the game! If you have a problem dealing with Noobs, and Large Egoed players then don't PuG because dealing with them comes with the territory and there is no way to eliminate every single one from the game.

If you have a trouble finding PuGs why don't you take it upon yourself to find a good group of friends in the game that will be willing to PuG with you? Join a large active Guild/Alliance, use your friend's list. Don't just sit here cry on this forum and wait for Arena.net to fix every single problem you have. If you believe these problems are affecting your enjoyment of the game then maybe you should just quit the game? Its only a game in the end.

And what if all those "mature", "experienced", and other "good players" start to pug ? Then pug teams would be great...

I almost never H/H. I pug and if we fail one or two times, then i H/H to complete the mish (and that was in the past, now all my chars can access every part of the world, i dont have any "imperative" anymore). Yes, i know, gw has teached me that: im highly social. All of you, H/Hing, arent socials, playing only with guildies isnt enought. Now you're aware of that.. I wish you play another game (no need for it to be online) since for me, and other MMO players, that wouldnt make any difference (yup, you dont play with me when im pugging, and chances are you arent in my guild).
Have a nice day.

Then they would end up turning back to H/H again after at most a week of pug idiocy and childishness.

Also, saying a group of people "arent socials" just because they choose not to socialise with immature morons whose only goal in life is to grief others is kind of pathetic. just because they don't take the same social interations as you do it doesn't make them anti-social.
In every society there are many groups of friends and only fools try to make everyone join one big happy clappy social gathering of brains, brawn and brick.

So tell me if I chose to spend time with my friends and family over going down to the park and hanging out with drug dealers would that make anti social?
What about if I choose to stay at home alone over going and visiting those drug dealers?

Thats what this is, I dont want to play with a PuG because it could contain anyone, someone who wants to tell me how sexy I look or someone that wants to spam racial slurs. It could be someone who goes afk 5 mins in or just quits at some point. It could be someone who runs off and dies then spams and swears at us for letting it happen, it could also be someone going for survivor who refuses to fight and maps out if we pull more than 3 enemies at a time.

Thats not what I would choose to do, I choose to go with friends or h/h. Players I know and enjoy playing with (and my friends as well ).

Im sorry but this is a game that advertises the option of solo play, maybe if your after a game that only has multi players you should be the one to switch not everyone else?

I really don't understand how anyone can conclude that people choosing to play solo are somehow "hurting the game" for others -- and yet I see comments along these lines frequently.

If I could not solo the way I often can in GW, I would not be playing GW at all. In either case, I would NOT be PUG-ing/grouping with random other players. So, what impact does this have on other people's PUG gameplay? That's right, NONE.

I've had my fill of online games that require grouping to move forward or to enjoy instanced content. There are many of them to choose from. Never again.

IF GW2 -- or any other game -- can be entirely soloed but also offers optional additional content that can only be completed with player groups (which is precisely what GW1 does), then I'm fine with that, as long as the soloable portion of the game is a complete game and comprises the lion's share of the content.

It's really pretty silly to tell solo-oriented players to go ...

For as much as you are into solo play, you sure to like to jump into the community aspect of it, interacting with players outside the game.

Even if it's to jump down their throats for wishing there were more people like them instead of more people like you.

Thats because on these forums there is no time problems. I dont need to try and set aside 1-2 hours to form a team and play a mission.
I also dont have to worry (to much) about insults and racial abuse etc.

Its not that I dont like people. Its that I dont like people I dont like.
Now on this forum im not required to interact specifically with anyone and discuss things just with them. When im in a team with someone however im stuck with them, if they choose to try and annoy me I either have to quit or accept it. When they go and aggro loads on purpose that effects me, when they pickup a bundle required for the mission then wont drop it that effects me, when they quit halfway through the mission and I have to start again that effects me.

I have no problem playing with nice sensible people (apart from not having time and having more enjoyment from h/h), but the only way I can know if they are nice sensible people is to get to know them through another means. Such as a guild or alliance.

Im not jumping down anyones throat, it was suggested we should quit the game because we dont conform to how a specific player thinks the game should be played, rather than how the game was developed and advertised to support solo play.

Kwan, I think you are missing the point. Most of what was suggested was said tongue in cheek. Of course, non of these suggestions could ever be implemented.

I will say that if GW2 forces me to join groups and not give me the option to play with Heroes, etc. I will not get the game. I'm pretty addicted to GW but I didn't play the game when Factions came out until Nightfall and didn't miss it one bit. I can live without GW.

What happens when someone posts a guide to the quest? Then everyone can do it. The only way to make PuGs viable is for ANet to patrol the game and ban anyone that sucks and won't listen to advice, which would never happen, or forcing everyone to become good, which also wouldn't happen.

.... Officially Guild Wars isn't an MMO; Arena.net classifies this game as a COPRG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). One of the Strengths of Guild Wars is the ability to have Henchmen and Heroes fill in gaps in the party when you can't find a person to play with, if you loose that how are you going to do a mission when the outpost is completely empty?

If you truly want to PUG and play with people maybe you should just join a active guild and play with them? Otherwise you might want to just go play WoW or some other MMO it seems like a better solution for you rather then sit here in the forums and order H/H players to not play the game.

You might think that.... but you might be surprised at how many people actually thought their suggestions are viable solutions. Besides as I recalled the Title of the thread is still "Making PuGs viable again" not "Make up unrealistic and outlandish solutions to make PuGs viable" or "Force people to play GW as a MMO" or "Force People to PuG" or "Force people to Act Mature or Play Good".... you kinda of get the picture?

I don't think there's anything good coming out of this thread anymore. Just Person A proposes dumb idea, Person B Proposes another one, Person C called A and B an idiot, Person D cries about wanting to Socialize, Person E cries that GW is ruined.... etc etc etc... Thats it.

Then nobody without the little x would ever get into a team. Plus...

Guildwiki + IQ test = No IQ needed.

I like the concept of the idea in the OP, however it wouldn't work if implemented as it's stated.

It would have to be a long, hard solo mission which has hundreds of possible randomizations in it.

Otherwise, within a few hours of the first day it's released, a walkthrough to steamroll it would be posted online, thus it would still not require a brain. Rather, the horrible PUG players would just follow the walkthrough word for word.

Extreme randomization of the mission is the only way this idea would serve it's purpose and distinguish bad players from good.

Of course, making something like that would probably take up way more dev resources than they'd ever wanna expend on it.

Conclusion: good idea in theory, but no useful & realistic way to actually have it implemented into the game.

I think this is a BAD idea.
People learn from playing. And if they fail the "test" then it will simply put them down.
Just tell the stupid people that their build wont benefit the group much and it isn't good for this area. Then they will shoo without anyone getting hurt.
